Soon after my diagnosis, I accepted a postion as a traveling sales representative for a privately owned pharmaceutical company. As I traveled from state to state, I became aware of the limited availability of diabetic products and educational materials. When I purchased supplies out of town, it was difficult to dind certain products and the level of personal service I had grown to expect in my hometown of Crescent City.

My frustration helped form the idea for Diabetes Home Care. After months of research, studying, and family dicussion, Diabetes Home Care was opened in 1989. We were among the first companies accepting insurance assignment and offering mail order diabetic supplies. As a teenager and young adult, I led an active lifestyle. I was involved in all types of sports, including swimming, surfing, skating, and volleyball. Throughout my life, whenever I faced a new challenge, new opportunity or new adventure, I would just "Go for it". Diabetes has changed my life, but did not change my lifestyle. As I learned to follow good diabetes management, I gained the freedom to continue in the activities I enjoy, as well as many new ones. I continued to roller blade, surf and waterski. I enrolled at a dance studio to maintain physical activity and received my SCCA competitive racing license.

In 1993, I married my high school sweetheart, Lynn, and in 1994 we were blessed with our daughter, Breanna. My son Brennan was born November, 1997. Life is good. I believe my future is bright. Diabetes has presented me with many challenges. Among these is the challenge to help other diabetics to live better lives which we strive to do through SugarFree Diabetic Supplies.
